Personal History
The motto I’ve always lived by is “do the best you can in everything”. Sounds simple and cliché’ but can be quite challenging. The end result is much more rewarding and worth the effort to do things the right way the first time. My early life began near Portland, OR where I was lucky to live on a small ranch in a semi-rural area with many animals and pets, where we enjoyed a close connection with the community, nature and family. Sports including mainly baseball and later basketball seemed to be the direction I was headed in life. I attended several colleges after being recruited for basketball but constant pain and knee surgeries cut my collegiate experience short. I used my work ethic I learned as an athlete and from helping my father remodel our old farm house and later building a new home on our property when I was a teenager and applied it as a laborer, Teamster, Union pipe layer and residential carpenter, where I excelled. I was anxious to use my remodel skills so I became a licensed contractor in Oregon a few years prior to moving to California where I became a General Contractor. I worked mostly on residential projects until 2000 when I decided commercial work offered better opportunities and I began working on grocery store remodels, restaurant and retail store construction including Safeway Stores, Panda Express restaurants, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Costco, Pep Boys and Longs Drugs. My wife Hilary and I live in Diamond Springs Ca since 1990 where we enjoy the quiet and beauty of El Dorado County but also maintain a second home in El Dorado Hills where we frequent the variety of restaurants and shopping in the area. The great part of living in the foothills is being able to enjoy the Sierra Mountains, lakes and trails almost in our back yard as well as being relatively close to the rivers, the delta and the ocean where we have enjoyed waterskiing, sailing and most recently kayaking and canoeing.
